through the lush Atlantic Forest. When we started climbing the Serra dos Órgãos,
we soon notice the difference of the mild climate, its mountains and the vegetation
Abundant. Part of its history is the Quitandinha Palace, Colonist's House
Germanicus and, in its Historic Center: the Imperial Museum, 19th-century mansions,
Cathedral of St. Peter of Alcantara, Crystal Palace, Bohemia Brewery and the House
by Santos Dumont. There were left important contributions from all his

What to expect
The tour begins with a visit to THE QUITANDINHA PALACE, built in 1941
and which represented the largest Casino Hotel in South America. From there we go to the MUSEUM OF THE COLONO HOUSE built by the foreiro of Germanic origin and ex-
military of the Imperial Brazilian Army, Johan Gottlieb Kaiser, in 1847, who has
features of the old Simern (German city that inspired the Siméria district).
House with wood-to-pike walls and zinc ceiling that depicts the simple way of life of the first settlers. The collection has household and work items in the field,
photos, frames and objects of personal use. Moving forward we pass the avenue
and we go to the IMPERIAL MUSEUM. It is a neoclassical Palace,
built by Dom Pedro II, who spent long seasons there with his family until
the Proclamation of the Republic in 1889. Transformed into a Museum in 1943, it has
significant collection of pieces related to the Brazilian Imperial period, especially
as the main piece the crown of Emperor Peter II. Right next door we have the CATHEDRAL SÃO PEDRO DE ALCÂNTARA, built in French Neo-Gothic style. Inside
highlights the Mausoleum where the remains of the Imperial Family are located (Don Pedro II, Dona Teresa Cristina, Princesa Isabel and Conde D ́Eu). Continuing our tour,
we will pass through an important AVENUE, named KOELER, which represents a
of the most important people of petrópolis' idealization, Major Julio Frederico
Koeler, an engineer in His Majesty's army who made a huge contribution to the
Urban project of the City and also of its way of settlement. On this avenue,
Koeler, we will pass in front of beautiful centuries-old mansions, listed by the
Historical Heritage. We will also pass in front of the CRYSTAL PALACE. your
precast structure in cast iron was ordered from a French foundry
by Count D ́Eu, being assembled in Petrópolis by engineer Eduardo Bonjean.
It was opened in 1884 to house exhibitions.
However, in April 1888, the last slaves of Petropolis were released, in a beautiful feast attended by Princess Elizabeth. We then set out to know one of the landmarks of the Germanic tradition: the BOHEMIA BREWERY – brewing experience center, installed in the oldest brewery in Brazil (1853) with more than 20 environments that provide an interactive journey through the evolution of beer through the ages. Also inside, there is a restaurant. Our last visitation will be the CASA DE SANTOS DUMONT MUSEUM which was the summer residence of Alberto Santos Dumont, Father of Aviation. The museum has a collection of objects, books and letters furniture that belonged to the inventor.
